OTTAWA — A resolution regarding the Great Lakes Basin railroad project is headed to the full La Salle County board for their vote today. At a meeting of the Development, Environmental Service, and TIF committee last Wednesday, members voted to send the resolution to the county board, recommending the board voice their opposition to the project. Committee officials noted concerns about the project, which include the main issues of transportation of hazardous materials, loss of farmland and property values, and affected response times for first responders. The full county board meets at 1 PM at the Ottawa Knights of Columbus hall.
