Illinois State boosts tuition for incoming students

NORMAL — Illinois State University’s board of trustees has approved a tuition increase for undergraduate students entering the school this fall.
The new students will pay 3 percent more in tuition and fees than the students who entered the university last year.
The board on Friday unanimously approved setting in-state undergraduate tuition at $370.25 per credit hour and fees at $81.84 per credit hour. Illinois’ truth-in-tuition law requires the tuition rate to remain the same for those students through summer 2020.
The board also increased the tuition for out-of-state and graduate students and upped residence hall rates by 1 percent.
Despite the increases, officials say Illinois State’s tuition and fees remain below the universities in the University of Illinois system and Northern Illinois University.
