Three locals arrested in two-year long federal drug investigation

More than a dozen people have been charged, including 3 local residents, and a large amount of drugs have been seized, according to Federal Law Enforcement Officials in Chicago.  Joel Levin, the Acting U.S. Attorney in Chicago, says officers from several agencies, including the LaSalle County Sheriff’s Office and Peru Police Department, participated in the 2 year long investigation.  Levin says that over 100 pounds of cocaine, 100 pounds of heroin, 25 pounds of Fentanyl, and a pound of meth was seized in the probe of drug trafficking in the western Chicago suburbs and Northwest Chicago.  Most arrested were from the Chicago area, however, officials say 31 year old Ricardo Castaneda, of Peru, 32 Santos Godina, of West Brooklyn, and 33 year old Jennifer Reppin of Peru were arrested in May and are awaiting trial on drug distribution charges.
