DIXON – A five year-old child and his father are both dead after what Dixon Police is calling a murder-suicide Monday evening.
Around 3:30 PM Police were called by the boys mother during a supervised visit with his father in the 1000 block of Fargo Ave. She reportedly witnessed the child, Christopher Michaels, going upstairs with his father, 33 year old Robert Micheals. Moments after asking her to leave the room, Robert Micheals shut and barricaded the door. She then heard two gunshots from inside the locked room and ran outside to call 911.
According to Dixon Police Chief Danny Langloss, officers arrived and entered the home, discovering the child deceased in a locked bathroom along with his father, both with gunshot wounds to the head. Robert Micheals was taken to a hospital in Rockford where he passed away Monday evening.
The incident remains under investigation by the Dixon Police Department and the Illinois State Police
