UPDATE: Search for Ex-Deputy Fugitive Near Earlville continues into the night

EARLVILLE — The manhunt continues into the nighttime hours for 47-year old Lowell Maxwell Ambler near Earlville. Ambler was reported to be seen south of town just before 2 PM Wednesday afternoon, prompting Earlville Schools to go into a full lockdown. Students were allowed to leave around 4 PM.
Numerous police agencies have set up a search area along and south of US Route 34, checking the wooden areas near and along Indian Creek. A state police Cessna and helicopter were circling the area for most of the afternoon.
The vehicle that Ambler allegedly stole during an armed carjacking early Wednesday in Plainfield was located around 3 PM near a grassy knoll south of the village.
Updates will be continuing throughout the night on the WGLC Facebook page.

Original Story
Earlville schools are on full lockdown after fugitive ex-deputy Lowell “Max” Ambler was allegedly spotted near the area this afternoon. Ambler, who the Lee County Sheriff’s Office says may be armed with a .45-caliber semi-automatic handgun and is dangerous, is wanted after authorities say he violated the conditions of the $250,000 bond he was initially held on following his September 15 arrest on charges of home invasion and aggravated kidnaping.  Authorities have setup a perimeter in the area east of Earlville off route 34 and north 14th road. Ambler was the subject of a manhunt yesterday in Will County after a semi-truck, stolen from Mendota Sunday night, was found in Plainfield. Lee County Sheriff John Simonton said that this morning Ambler is suspected to have carjacked, at gunpoint, a 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe in Plainfield.  The vehicle has a registered Illinois license plate of S-7-8-5-8-8-4.
