STREATOR – One man has died following a fire early Tuesday morning in the 300 block of Chicago Street in Streator. The Streator Fire Department received a call around 2:45 AM and while enroute, they were notified that the resident was likely inside the structure.
Firefighters immediately worked to rescue the occupant and were able to locate and remove him. The resident, 68 year-old Alan Cox, was transported to OSF Center for Health-Streator where he was pronounced dead. Two dogs were also found deceased. There were no other reported injuries.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal, the Streator Police Department, and the Streator Fire Department.
