An Ottawa woman suffered serious injuries after her car struck a pickup and trailer on I-80 in Ottawa Monday afternoon. Illinois State Police say that 57 year old Cheryl Shannon was traveling eastbound shortly before two yesterday afternoon when she struck the rear of a trailer that was parked on the right shoulder. Police say Shannon was taken to an area hospital with what they termed life threatening injuries. The driver of the pickup and trailer, a 27 year old Massachusetts man, was not injured.
State Police say that Shannon was cited for Driving Under the Influence of Drugs, Improper Lane Usage, and Failing to Reduce Speed to Avoid An Accident.
