RANTOUL – A fatal accident on Interstate 57 in Champaign County that took the life of a college student is under investigation by the Illinois State Police. On Wednesday evening police say 21-year-old Francis C. Edelen, from Manhattan, Illinois began walking for unknown reasons along the Interstate after a minor traffic accident. He was struck three miles north of Rantoul by possibly a semi truck and multiple unknown vehicles. Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Illinois State Police.
