OTTAWA – Four area communities will be receiving grants totaling over $3.4 million from FEMA to help limit damage caused by future floods. The Pre-Disaster Mitigation Grants were issued for flood wall construction in Depue, Marseilles, Ottawa and Peru.
In Ottawa, $1.1 million was awarded to elevate and construct a new flood wall around the High School. Marseilles and Depue both received funds to protect their wastewater treatment plants. The City of Peru will be getting backing to build a taller flood wall around the wastewater treatment plant.
