OGLESBY – The Dieken Family Foundation has established a $2,000 annual scholarship for Streator High School graduates planning to study agriculture at Illinois Valley Community College.
“From the moment we first met Bob Dieken, it was clear that his heart and soul is committed to Streator and helping high school students from the city achieve their educational and career goals,” said IVCC President Jerry Corcoran.
“By establishing scholarships for IVCC students in agriculture now and high growth occupational fields in the future, Mr. Dieken and his business associates can rest assured we will do everything we can to make him proud of our new partnership,” Corcoran said.
The scholarship, to be awarded beginning in fall, will provide $1,000 each semester to a Streator High School graduate pursuing a degree in either agri-business or agronomy. Students must maintain a GPA of at least 2.45 and be enrolled in a minimum of three agriculture courses each semester. Dieken, a businessman and philanthropist in Streator for many years, also sponsors several scholarships at SHS.
