Charges Filed Against Teen Shooter at Dixon School

DIXON – The teen accused of firing a weapon at Dixon High School on Wednesday morning has been charged with three felonies. According to the Illinois State Police, 19-year-old Matthew A. Milby of Dixon allegedly brought a firearm onto the campus of the school and opened fire near the auditorium, which had members of the Senior class participating in a graduation ceremony rehearsal.
Milby was shot after a pursuit on foot by a school resource police officer, identified as Mark Dallas. No other students or staff were injured, and Milby’s injuries are described as being non-life threatening. He was charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm, aggravated discharge at a school employee and aggravated discharge at a school building.   Milby will be held on $2 million dollars bond pending his release from the hospital. The investigation continues and more charges may come.
