PONTIAC – With warmer weather comes the monitoring of the spread of West Nile Virus, and the Livingston County Health Department is seeking the public’s help once again. They are asking that residents collect recently deceased birds that are not decomposing and the cause of death is not from injury. They are most interested in Blue Jays and Crows, but other birds may be collected. They ask that you call if you find a suspected bird and they will determine if they need it for testing. The West Nile Virus appears in bird and mosquito populations before it spreads to humans, monitoring helps determine how many are at risk from getting ill. If you have any questions you should contact the Livingston County Health Department.
