Community Members Launch Live Well Streator

STREATOR – A group of community members have joined together with the hopes of making Streator a place where generations of people want to live because they can enjoy longer, healthier, and happier lives.
“Live Well Streator exists to bring people together to develop solutions that create new possibilities for healthier lives,” said Janette Strabala, regional director of operations at Heritage Operations Group and chair of Live Well Streator. “Our purpose is to create a sustainable movement that strengthens the health and well-being of the entire community.”
The group is a byproduct of the transformational work OSF HealthCare is doing in Streator, and emerges as the City prepares for its sesquicentennial celebrations. “Streator has a rich and vibrant history,” said Ellen Vogel, community health engagement program manager at OSF HealthCare Center for Health – Streator. “Now in its 150th year, together, we can ensure Streator remains strong and engaged.”
A primary focus of Live Well Streator will be to build awareness about community resources and create new partnerships to support healthy living. Jack Dzuris, executive director of the Streator Area Chamber of Commerce and vice chair of the Live Well Streator collaborative, says it’s all about connecting people with what they need. “When people are in a position to make better choices, it unlocks new potential and provides the framework needed to be able to live healthier, happier lives,” said Dzuris.
Other community members actively working on the Live Well Streator initiative include: Rene Barr, Josh Biros, Matthew Dean, Leslie Dougherty, Don Emmons, Vicki Gerberich, Jimmie Lansford, Amy Jo Mascal, Dr. Lisa Parker, and Julie Ramza. Several OSF HealthCare administrators are also involved in the group.
