CHICAGO – Unemployment rates are on the rise in the area. The unemployment rate for August in LaSalle County was at 5.4 percent, which is up a tenth of a percent compared to last month. Both Bureau and Putnam County also saw an increase of unemployment with Bureau at 4.5 percent and Putnam at 4.6 percent. However, the overall state average has decreased a tenth of a percent compared to last month, coming in at 4.1 percent.
