Princeton High School Employee Arrested

PRINCETON – A Princeton High school staff member was arrested on Friday.   According to authorities, the arrest stems from an investigation conducted by the Princeton Police Department in cooperation with the Bureau County State’s Attorney’s Office and Princeton High School District.  According to Princeton Police, they were made aware of an allegation regarding 27-year-old Brik A. Wedekind, of Princeton, reportedly having a relationship with a minor under his supervision.  Police say further investigation revealed that Wedekind, a coach at Princeton High School, allegedly engaged in a sexual relationship with a student/athlete while reportedly in a position of authority. According to police, Wedekind was charged with Criminal Sexual Assault, a class 1 felony, and posted a cash bond of $70,000/10%.
Wedekind’s arraignment is scheduled for November 14th.  Authorities say they won’t comment further on the case as is still being investigated.  Police and the State’s Attorney’s Office say that if anyone has any further information on this case to call the Princeton Police Department at 815-875-2631.
