Mayor Praises Crews After Blizzard in Peru

By: paul.wasneski

PERU – Peru Mayor Scott Harl applauded city crews for their service in Blizzard Bruce. In a city council meeting on Monday night, Mayor Harl mentioned the many power outages experienced during the storm, and how crews worked tirelessly to repair the galloping power lines. Public Works also toiled through the dangerous conditions sending 15 plows to clear roads. Harl also thanked residents for cooperating in clearing their cars from the street, making it easier for the city to clear the roads. Alderman Waldorf said that although it was a very chaotic night, everyone handed it in exemplary fashion.
Leaf cleanup was also a topic of discussion at the council meeting. Mayor Scott Harl says that although it’s late for leaf pickup, he still has complaints. Harl says that because it has already snowed, the likelihood of leaves being picked up are slim. Chief Jeff King says that if it warms up he can try to collect the leaves, but he can’t guarantee it to work if the leaves are still wet.
