Cement Company Discussed Future Thursday Night

Illinois Cement Future Plans

LASALLE – Representatives from Illinois Cement spoke to a full crowd Thursday night regarding potential limestone mining. The public hearing at LaSalle City Hall discussed the rezoning and obtaining special use permits in order to obtain enough limestone for forty years of reserves for the cement plant. Although Wayne Emmer, president of the company, and Jerry Crittenden, plant manager, assured residents of Dimmick Township that the mining would not disrupt their daily lives, several voiced complaints and concerns regarding dust, blasts, and air pollution. Many had complaints from the already active area mining. Emmer encourages residents to call Illinois Cement if they wanted to voice a complaint and ask for him specifically.
