PERU – A fire in Peru had crews battle the blaze late on Christmas night. Around 10:15 p.m. a call came in for a fire in the 300 block of Peru Street in Peru, and area departments responded, including LaSalle, Peru, Spring Valley, Utica and Tonica. The two story structure was filled with smoke. The building, which at one time was multiple residences, was reportedly not occupied at the time. No injuries were reported among the first responders.
