SPRING VALLEY – The Spring Valley Fire Department reported Wednesday night that on Christmas firefighters vehicles were burglarized while they were away on a call.  On Christmas they, along with other departments were battling a blaze in Peru around 10:30 p.m. when an individual or individuals entered multiple vehicles and took money and gift cards.  Spring Valley Police say that there has been an increase in vehicle burglaries in recent weeks, with seven reported between Christmas Eve and Wednesday.
Chief Todd Bogatitus wants to remind residents to keep their doors locked and to keep an eye out for anything suspicious.
“If you see something like a purse laying in an alley or know something, let police know.   You don’t know where the suspect might have dropped something”
If anyone knows anything or sees any suspicious activity, please contact the Spring Valley Police Department.
