President Trump assures farmers of laborers, even if he builds a wall

WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump addressed the American Farm Bureau Federation’s 100th convention in New Orleans on Monday. As previously reported by the Associated Press, President Donald Trump is seeking to assure farmers that they will still be able to get the help they need if he builds a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border. According to AP, Trump says he understands that farmers need people to help with harvests and will make it easier for immigrants to enter the country to work on farms. While LaSalle County Farm Bureau President, David Isermann was not able to attend this year, he says help with labor has been an issue for a number of years. Like many farmers, Isermann questions if they will get the workers they need for specialty crops and seasonal labor. He says there’s a lot of uncertainty, but all he can hope for is a comprehensive immigration plans so farmers can legally get the workers they need to get the work done.
