State and local gas prices jump nearly 30 cents more per gallon

CHICAGO – State wide and local gas prices have seen a hike of nearly 30 cents more per gallon compared to last month. According to the American Automobile Association, gas prices for Illinois average at $2.45 per gallon compared to $2.17 per gallon, a nearly 30 cent increase. Local gas prices are also feeling the sting, with LaSalle, Bureau and Marshall County at $2.35 per gallon, a 30 cent increase compared to last month. Putnam County is averaging the highest gas prices locally, at $2.38 per gallon, a 33 cent hike compared to last months data. According to the the Energy Information Administration (EIA), total domestic crude production hit 12 million barrells per day (b/d) last week. This rate is the highest weekly estimate ever recorded by EIA, since the federal agency began tracking the data in 1983.
