UNDATED – The American Red Cross has a severe shortage of type O blood. According to the organization, type O blood in the most in-demand blood type. Type O negative blood can be transfused to patients with any blood types and is what emergency room personnel reach for when there’s no time to determine a patient’s blood type. The Red Cross is partnering with HBO’s Game of Throne’s to celebrate its final season. Those who donate through March 12th will receive a Game of Thrones T shirt and will be entered for a chance to win one of five trips to the season 8 world premier. Local blood drives this week, will be in Mendota tomorrow from 10:45 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Moose Lodge, and in Peru from noon to 5:30 p.m. at the Illinois Valley Chapter Donation. Blood drives on Thursday will be hosted in Princeton from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, in Ottawa from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church.
