UTICA – Three people are charged for cannabis trafficking after a traffic stop made by the Illinois State Police leading to the discovery of over 80 pounds of purported marijuana. According to Illinois State Police on Thursday of last week just after 7 a.m , a Trooper stopped a vehicle for a traffic infraction on I-80 eastbound in Utica. During the inspection the Trooper observed indicators of possible criminal activity. A State Police canine allegedly indicated the presence of contraband within the vehicle. Police say a subsequent probable cause search of the vehicle revealed approximately 88 pounds of cannabis located within the vehicle. Arrested for Cannabis Trafficking were 35-year-old Shawn Williamson, 34-year-old Melissa Williamson and 28-year-old Joshua Jones all from Montgomery Creek California. Both Williamson’s were released on bond. Jones is being held at the LaSalle County Jail.
