MENDOTA – The Optimist Club is helping the city of Mendota raise funds for a new baseball scoreboard in honor of 12 year-old Karl Soliman. Soliman passed away last December after he collapsed at a basketball tournament. The club presented the city with a check for $4,000 for Strauss Park’s south field. Mayor Boelk says it all depends on the weather as to when the scoreboard will be erected.
