Sewer project grant plans moves forward

Dustin Wolroff

SPRING VALLEY – Spring Valley is pursuing a community development block grant for sewer projects. The city made a motion to approve the application fees of the project assisted through the North Central Illinois Council of Governments at Monday’s meeting. If approved, the CDBG grant would cover the construction cost of sewer replacement along Greenwood Street, and sewer lining repairs on the 400 blocks of West Devlin and St. Paul streets. The cost for the next three projects would total nearly $300,000 dollars. The city can be awarded up to $500,000 dollars through the grant. The next step of the application would be for the city to identify that the sewers are a threat to health and safety.
