CHICAGO – State and local unemployment rates experienced a slight increase this month. According to the Illinois Department of Employment Security, statewide unemployment rates increased by only a tenth of a percent, breaking a three month streak of 4.3 percent. Bureau is the only county whose rates decreased this month at 6.3 percent, compared to 6.6 last month. LaSalle County’s rates increased by a tenth of a percent, now at 7.3 percent. Putnam County also ranks at 7.3 percent compared to 7 percent last month.
