NWS: Flood Warning for Grundy, LaSalle, Putnam, Bureau counties

CHICAGO – A flood advisory is issued for the Illinois River. According to The National Weather Service in Chicago, the advisory covers the Illinois River affecting Grundy, LaSalle, Putnam and Bureau counties. The weather service says Allen Park west boat ramp is inundated in Ottawa. From Heritage Harbor east of Ottawa downstream to Starved Rock Lock and Dam to confluence with Big Bureau Creek will be under the advisory until Friday afternoon. Some locations that will experience flooding include Peru, Mendota, Oglesby, Serena, La Salle, Sheridan, Utica, Somonauk,Earlville, North Utica, Leland, Millington and Troy Grove. NWS says the river will rise to nearly 462 feet by early Wednesday morning. Flood stage is 463 feet. Showers and possible thunderstorms are expected to continue into Thursday. The following forecasts are based on observed precipitation as well as forecast precipitation 24-48 hours into the future.
