Serious injuries to tow truck driver after crash involving Scott’s Law

GRUNDY CO. – A tow truck driver sustained serious injuries after a traffic crash involving Scott’s Law, Sunday. According to the Illinois State Police, they responded to a crash on I-55 southbound just south of Gardner Road on Sunday just before 10 p.m. It was reported that a vehicle was traveling in the right lane, when it failed to yield to a tow truck that was stationary on the right shoulder, with emergency lights reportedly activated. The vehicle then allegedly struck the tow truck and its driver, 33-year-old Ryan McGrail, who was outside of the truck assisting a motorist. According to authorities McGrail was transported to Morris Hospital then airlifted to Loyola Hospital with serious injuries. The driver and passengers of the vehicle reported no injuries at the scene. The incident is an on-going investigation.
