More non-disposables found in Spring Valley sewers

SPRING VALLEY – Spring Valley city workers are finding more trash in sewer lines allegedly near a nursing home. According to assistant public works superintendent Chris Insco, the city experienced a sewer back up due to a grease blockage. Workers are certain where the garbage is coming from due to a manhole baskets in the sewer line that directs to a nursing facility. Multiple wash rags, rubber gloves, brown paper towels and other garbage has been reportedly found. Insco says things like wash cloths can cause the city to have to replace pumps at the lift station, costing thousand of dollars. Over the past few years, workers have had to either rebuild of replace pumps several times. Mayor Marini says the city is currently in the process of making traps specifically for the nursing home.
