MENDOTA – The early Sunday morning call for a person with a gunshot wound turned out to be unsubstantiated after an investigation by Mendota Police, however, one person was eventually taken into custody. Around 3 AM they were called to the 100 Block of South 13th Ave for a report of a person who said they were shot in the face with a firearm.   The victim was treated for injuries sustained in the alleged incident.  A 38-year-old Mendota man was arrested and charged with battery stemming from an alleged altercation. The case is still pending further investigation by the Mendota Police Department.
