PERU – Peru Police Chief Doug Bernabei warned residents of a door-to-door ruse burglary that’s been targeting the elderly at Monday night’s city council meeting. He explained that there have been two incidents within the last week where ruse burglars have posed as Peru Public Works Employees and asked to enter residents home to inspect electrical or water issues. Bernabei assured residents that any City of Peru employees would be wearing clearly marked uniforms and would be in city vehicles featuring the emblem of the City of Peru. He also encouraged residents to help inform elderly residents of this current scam.
