Man accused of killing Fulton Co. Deputy in custody

AVON – A man is accused of shooting and killing a Fulton County Deputy, who responded to a battery and disturbance call on Tuesday in Avon. After a nearly 19 hour stand off, 42-year-old Nathan Woodring of Avon was taken into custody just after 8 a.m. on Wednesday. According to the Illinois State Police, Woodridge barricaded himself inside a residence in rural Avon. He is accused of killing 39-year-old Troy Chisum, a Fulton County Deputy, that was shot in the residence shortly upon arrival. Woodridge is being held at the McDonough County Jail pending formal charges. Illinois State Police Acting Director Brendan F. Kelly says, he extends his heartfelt condolences to Fulton County Deputy Chisum’s family, friends, and extended family at the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office. This is the second time this year the Illinois State Police has apprehended an alleged cop killer.
