OTTAWA – Ottawa is hoping to relieve traffic congestion near railroads. The city, U.S Silica, IDOT and Hanson Services are all in agreement to perform a railroad study to relieve traffic congestion when trains are switching cars and find an alternative place to assemble. Mayor Dan Aussem says he’s hoping U.S Silica will put a switch yard on their property so trains can go straight through railroad crossings without having to connect more cargo while vehicles wait.
The study will be on Boyce Memorial Drive, Champlain and LaSalle Streets.
