OSF HealthCare volunteers honored

 

OTTAWA – Volunteers at OSF HealthCare Saint Elizabeth Medical Center and Center for Health – Streator were honored for their exceptional service.  A total of 347 volunteers contributed 33,970 hours of service this past last year, an amount that equals 16 full-time employees.

The following volunteers were recognized for 100 hours: Paul Ahearn, Lexie Bozek, Jake Bressner, Jim Bressner, Jerri Brown, Martha Bustamante, Lewis Cushing, Mary Cushing, Bob Cutler, Larry Duffell, Barb Ehling, Autumn Ferguson, Emma Gerkitz, Raigan Hanley, Kathleen Hartford, Nancy Hayes, Sally Johnson, Kim Kaufman, Linda Kelm, Joyce Knottek, Barb Lathrop, Art Lowman, Chris Mathes, Janet McIntyre, Nadia Murphy, Bonnie Nagle, Karen Novotny, Diana Parcher, Sterling Parks, Kathy Purcell, Spider Purcell, Briana Reese, Christi Reynolds, Lisa Scott, Dottie Simundza, Mallory Sobkowich, Jim Steenhoek, Marilyn Sugg, Steve Swett, and Mary Weisbrock.

Recognized for 500 hours were Betty Cutler, Elaine Goodman, William Grimm, Kathryn Luckey, Sharon Nelson, Jerry Peterson, Gail Rapp, Sharon Stoudt, and Larry Yednock.

Recipients of awards for 1,000 hours were Roy Drake, Judy Leese, Barry Loomis, Maz Mazza, Alice Pfau-Pakenham, Nancy Thompson, and Pete Zabawa.

 

1,500 hour awards went to Barb Bowen, Yukiko Carpenter, John Cook, Cheryll Donovan, Ellen Hathorn, Gary Oelschlager, and Jim Sparks.

Ron Callaway, Carol Cook, Karen Rhodes, and Ron Slafer achieved 2,000 hours.  Sharon Greene, Paul Klotzbucher, Melita Stone, and Frank Youngblood each logged 2,500 hours.

Coming in at 3,000 hours were Carolyn Claahsen, Rita Emmert, Judy Pineda, and Margaret Slafer.  3,500 hour awards were given to Brad Campbell, Mike Crawshaw, Sefie Jarigese, Fred Pufahl, and Judy Waldron.

Mary Catlin clocked 4,000 hours and Rosemary McDonnell attained 4,500 hours.  Coming in at 5,000 hours were Carole Larson and Mary Ann Schmidt. The award for 6,000 hours went to Bobbi Kandell.

The following individuals tallying 9,000 or more hours were also recognized:

  • Sylvia Eichelkraut – 9,500 hours
  • Gladys Stecher – 13,500 hours
  • Jim Eichelkraut – 16,500 hours
  • Joyce Cobler – 20,500 hours

“I wouldn’t do it, if I didn’t love it,” stated Joyce Cobler, 20,500 hour volunteer.  “It is a great way to stay involved. I would encourage anyone who is interested to give volunteering at OSF HealthCare a try.”

Volunteers range in age from 13 up to 96.  They provide assistance to a variety of service areas including Care-A-Van, clerical services, emergency department, escorts, hospice, the Family Room, hospitality, lobby information desk, outpatient, pastoral care, surgery waiting room, Gift Shop, and blood drives.
