OTTAWA – The city of Ottawa will apply for a grant to fund part of their long time sewer control plan. In a public hearing at Tuesday night’s council meeting it was announced by the North Central Council of Governments that the city plans to apply for a $500,000 Community Development Block Grant to cover the construction portion to separate storm sewer flows and sanitary combined sewer systems along 1st Avenue and Catherine street. The total cost for the project is estimated to be over $630,000 and the remaining balance after the grant will come out of the city’s combined sewer service fees. The application will be submitted in August.
