OTTAWA – Local unemployment rates have increased slightly after steady numbers since June. According to the Illinois Department of Employment Security, LaSalle County holds the highest percentage of unemployed persons locally, at 4.9, compared to 4.6 last month. Putnam County’s numbers increased just a tenth of a percent, now at 4.3. Bureau County’s rates remain the lowest locally, at 4%. Statewide unemployment rates have decreased a tenth of a percent this month, now at 4.2%.
