Peoria woman arrested, ISP seizes nearly 40 pounds of cannabis in Pontiac

PONTIAC –  A Peoria woman has been charged with possession after police seized nearly 40 pounds of alleged cannabis during a traffic stop in Pontiac. According to the Illinois State Police, on Thursday morning, a trooper stopped a passenger vehicle after observing a traffic violation when they reportedly detected the odor of cannabis in the vehicle. Police say 45-year-old Anita L. Williams, of Peoria, was arrested immediately for an outstanding warrant. A subsequent search of the vehicle by troopers resulted in the seizure of 38 pounds of purported cannabis. Williams was arrested for Cannabis Trafficking, Delivery of Cannabis over 5,000 Grams, and Possession of Cannabis over 5,000 Grams.  Williams has been incarcerated in the Livingston County Jail.
