TRIUMPH – Property owners in rural LaSalle County near Triumph have begun discovering a number of dead fish in area streams on Thursday. A few dead fish could be spotted from bridges in and around Ophir township. A neighbor of rural Mendota resident Bob Johnson asked him Thursday if he had spotted the dead fish in the Little Vermillion River. There was no clear indication as to the cause of the deaths, however Johnson recalls a fish kill in the same area around the same time a couple of years earlier.
