UNDATED – Motorists can expect some pump price jumps in the coming days and weeks after attacks on two major oil facilities. Over the weekend, Saudi Arabia experienced drone attacks on two oil facilities, including the world’s largest, Abqaiq. According to the American Automobile Association, the attacks have taken 5.7 million crude oil barrels per day off the market, accounting for about 6% of the global supply. AAA spokesperson Jeanette Casselano says Americans can expect local pump prices to start to increase this week. The jump could end up being as much as a quarter per gallon throughout this month. On the week, Monday’s gas price average for Illinois is at $2.71, compared to nearly 2.90 a year ago. Tri-county gas price averages have decreased even further after cheap Labor Day gas prices. LaSalle County averages $2.49 per gallon, Putnam at $2.55 and Bureau at $2.58.
