LASALLE – LaSalle-Peru High School’s buildings and grounds committee is putting solar panels back on the discussion table. Over the summer, Superintendent Steven Wroblewski says he was approached by a company that’s willing to invest $11 million to install a solar garden at the high school’s sports complex.
Wroblewski says the original design and planning for the complex was to add a baseball and softball field, however he says the company is offering to pay more than what the high school is currently getting as of now, cash renting to a farmer for $800 per acre. The committee is not quite sure how open arms the board will feel about the proposal, but agreed to move forward in research and consulting other school districts that have transitioned to green energy.
