CHICAGO – Local pump prices are showing signs of stabilization after attacks on two oil facilities in Saudi Arabia earlier this month. According to the American Automobile Association, gas stations reacted just as swiftly as the market, raising local prices by as much as a quarter. However, by the end of last week, crude was down in price, stabilizing gas prices as reports surfaced that Saudi facilities should be fully operational by end of September. Statewide gas prices increased by less than ten cents, now at $2.79 per gallon. LaSalle County experienced the largest pump price increase of $2.60 per gallon, compared to 2.49 earlier this month. Putnam County’s prices went up a smidge of 5 cents, matching LaSalle County’s average of $2.60. Bureau County has the highest pump prices locally at $2.62 per gallon compared to$ 2.58.
