Dixon man arrested for fleeing police, chasing woman with knife

DIXON – A Dixon man is in custody after reportedly chasing a woman with a knife, ending in an alleged pursuit with authorities. According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, on Tuesday at 6:30 a.m. they responded to a disturbance in the 150o road on Route 52 in rural Dixon. Police say, a woman reported being chased and threatened with an alleged knife by 60-year-old Richard Nichols of Dixon. According to authorities, Nichols fled the scene prior to deputy’s arrival and was located driving his vehicle north of Amboy. Sheriff’s say Nichols failed to stop for deputies and an alleged pursuit was initiated and ended within Dixon city limits. Nichols was taken into custody without incident and is charged with Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding a Police Officer, Unlawful Use of Weapons and Aggravated Assault. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office was arrested by the Dixon Police Department and the Illinois State Police.
