PRINCETON – A Spring Valley man charged with murder will face a bench trial. 37-year-old Eddie L. Mentgen is charged with first degree murder for his alleged involvement in the April homicide of 28-year-old Marissa Roberts. Thursday afternoon at the Bureau County Courthouse in Princeton, Mengten requested that a judge issue his verdict, rather than a 12-person jury. Bureau County States Attorney Gino Cafferini says he was not expecting Mentgen to waive his right to a jury. Final pre-trial will be on January 24th and trial will begin February 18th.
