STREATOR – Streator’s council is expected to pass their 2020 budget this week. According to City Manager David Plyman, the proposed general fund expense budget is at $9.8 million and revenue at $9.6 million leaving an over $200,000 deficit. Plyman says the budget anticipates staff reduction achieved through an early retirement incentive program that is currently being developed. The city is also expected to delay the purchase of certain vehicle and equipment purchases. In November Plyman proposed a tax levy increase of 4.81%. The city will have a public hearing on Wednesday.
