Uniform officers from 21 Division have arrested and charged a man for robbery in the City of Brampton.
On December 20, 2019, the victim arranged a meeting to sell a puppy through an online site for buying and selling. They had agreed to meet in the area of Skylar Circle. Once at the location, the victim handed the puppy to the suspect. The suspect then refused to pay, pointed a gun at the victim and proceeded to run away on foot. As the suspect fled with the puppy he accidentally shot himself in the leg, causing him to fall to the ground.
Police were contacted at 7:31 p.m. by the victim. Police attended and located the suspect who was arrested and given medical attention. He was transported to a local hospital where his injuries are considered non-life threatening. A Colt .45 firearm was recovered in the area and the puppy was returned unharmed.
A 20-year-old man from Brampton was charged with Robbery and firearm related offences. He is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on December 21, 2019.
