Feline rescue group saves thousands over past four years

By: zzorna

DALZELL – A feline rescue group that believes in humane methods for reducing feral population has taken in over 1000 local cats in the past few years. Safe House in Dalzell rescues stray cats from LaSalle and Bureau County through a trap, neuter, and release program. Not all ferrals will find a home because they simply cat be domesticated, however, Vice President Sandy Knott says Safe House makes sure a good chunk of them do. Since 2016, the non profit has had an 88% placement rate, setting up 944 cats with homes out of the 1,083 they’ve taken in.
