STREATOR – Streator City Council laid down the law for where recreational marijuana businesses and grow house can be. Per the recommendation of the plan commission, cannabis dispensaries will be allowed in the central business district zone and grow operations will be allowed to be located closer than the Illinois Municipal League’s recommended 1500 feet from residential areas. City Manager David Plyman advised plan commission to make the proximity change for cultivators because Streator was laid out well before zoning was established and warrants exceptions.
