PERU – A fundraiser organized by a Peru five-year-old resulted in a donation of toys to the Peru Primary Care medical practice and OSF Children’s Hospital in Peoria. According to Illinois Valley Community Hospital, Charlotte Hughes, a kindergarten student at Northview School, is a Peru Primary Care patient who recently had thumb surgery at OSF Children’s Hospital. She set up what she called a “hot coco stand” outside her house over Christmas break and raised enough money to purchase toys and kids’ books for both her local doctors’ office and the Peoria hospital. Hughes mom says she is just one of those girls who likes to help others.
