Biden wins, Streator voters favor library referendum and more

UNDATED – 22% of all registered voters in LaSalle County cast their ballot in the 2020 general primary election. Nearly 16,000 residents voted compared to the over 70,000 registered voters. Former Vice President Joe Biden won the Illinois Democratic primary for president. In LaSalle County, he had just over 6,200 votes around half of Bernie Sander votes. In Streator, voters favored a referendum to raise property tax in order to make public library improvements.  In the Congressional race for 16th District Dani Brzozowski will be the Democratic challenger against incumbent Adam Kinzinger. Locally, in the State’s Attorney’s race, Todd Martin will represent democrats against incumbent Karen Donnelly.  Rick Ploch will be the eligible democrat in the coroner’s running, winning against Lawrence Powell.
