MENDOTA, Illinois – When Tony Yost of Mendota proposed to Connie See in November, they weren’t planning a lavish ceremony and reception, but were at least expecting a large gathering with friends and family.  Friday night, however, in the middle of a pandemic crisis worldwide, the event had gotten significantly smaller.
“We were expecting 400 people, so we had the food, got the hall rented then came the corona virus” Tony said Saturday.
The private event was made public on Facebook Live for hundreds to watch from their home.
“We gutted our house and made into a wedding hall and cut the list even further” he noted.
The ceremony and reception took place a day before Governor J.B. Pritzker ordered everyone in the state to stay at home.
Of all the things that could have happened, Tony and Connie never suspected this would derail their celebration.
“I like to drink ” said Tony, “Who would have ever thought a virus named after a beer would try to stop my wedding!”
